Canada’s 2013 Outstanding Athlete (Lou Marsh Award winner!) and the CFL’s 2013 Most Outstanding Player and Canadian, Jon Cornish, launches the 2014 Magnificent Men! Leadership Lunch series.
He inspired us to be better leaders by explaining how he has overcome his obstacles and his definition of leadership. Jon was drafted 13th overall in the 2006 CFL Draft after playing football at the University of Kansas where he set the KU single season rushing record with 1,457 yards. In 2013, Jon Cornish became the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player and the Most Outstanding Canadian!

Peter Mansbridge, O.C.!

April 25th, 2014 | Thanks, Peter!

PETER MANSBRIDGE is Canada’s most respected journalist.  As the Chief Correspondent and Anchor for CBC’s The National, he has heard and seen the many facets of Canada.  Peter is also the host of Mansbridge: One on One and preparing to cover the Sochi Olympics in February.

Peter has earned numerous Genie awards, five Honourary Degrees and the Order of Canada.  Indeed, he has been promoted within the Order of Canada to the Officer level.  Currently, he also serves at the Chancellor of Mount Allison University in New Brunswick.

Peter will give us some insights as to how he overcomes obstacles and defines leadership.  He certainly has met most of the outstanding leaders in Canada.  You will also have an opportunity to meet Peter and the other remarkable leaders there.

Business, politics and community leadership – that’s the HONOURABLE RON GHITTER!  Ron has had a fascinating and distinguished career!

After graduating from Law at the University of Alberta, Ron established Ghitter & Co. focussing on real estate matters. 

From 1971 to 1979, Ron served as the MLA for Calgary Buffalo in Premier Lougheed’s government.  As a Senator, he chaired the Standing Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resoures.Prior to establishing his own land development company, Certus Development Inc., Ron was an EVP at Trizec Corporation and Chair of the Bentall Kennedy Corporation Board. 

 Ron’s community leadership record is also stellar – Sheldon Chumir Foundation for Ethics in Leadership; Mayor’s Committee on Community and Family Violence; Arts Festival Committee for the 1988 Olympics and many, many more contributions… including Tennis Canada! Ron was awarded the Alberta Human Rights Award in 1990 and an Honourable Degree from the University of Calgary in 2001.

Grant Bartlett is a leader in all aspects of our energy industry. From being an outstanding academic at Queens to the Entrepreneur in Residence in the Business School at Queens, Bartlett has also successfully established a number of energy companies and mentored many others. Bartlett was the founder, President, Chair and CEO of Archer Resources – the top IPO of 1993 on the TSE.

An avid golfer, Bartlett has golfed in every Canadian province and in many other countries including golfing with Tiger Woods at a Children’s Charity Event at Fox Harb’r, Nova Scotia.

This Oilpatch Warrior will share his Lessons for Living, thereby, inspiring us to become better leaders in our business, community and personal lives.
